The New Zealand Body Art Awards 2009 will be held at
the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna
on Saturday the 25th of July.

A press release was held at the Spencer on Byron in Takapuna on Thursday the 25h of June.

Carmel Mc Cormick, the supreme winner for the last 2 years, Lawrence Makoare (judge), Mem Bourke (organiser) and mayor Andrew Williams and his wife Jane were there, including various body art artists and a taste of 'Fantasia Asia' creations. Mayor Williams turned out the be the first mayor to be interviewed while being topless... featuring a stunning dragon on blue.

We also found out that Lawrence Makoare (who also appeard in a James Bond movie) just seems to die in every movie.

Mem Bourke want to see this great event to be like THE event for people to go to, similar to an event like Cirque du Soleil and WOW (Wearable Art Awards).

Carmel McCormick is also the artist behind the fantastic Air New Zealand commercial.
